Celestron UHC/LPR Filter - 2"
The 2-inch Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively block wavelengths of light produced by artificial sources, including mercury vapor and high- and low-pressure sodium vapor lamps. They also help reduce unwanted natural skyglow caused by neutral oxygen emissions in the atmosphere.
The Ultra High Contrast (UHC/LPR) Filter delivers improved contrast compared to conventional broadband filters, darkening the sky background and enhancing the visibility of emission nebulae. Its advanced optical coatings provide over 97% transmission across the passband while blocking prominent light pollution emission lines. It is ideal for observing nebulae under light-polluted skies or enhancing nebular contrast at dark-sky locations.
Key features that distinguish the UHC/LPR Filter include:
-
Durable Advanced Coatings: Plasma-assisted, multilayer dielectric coatings hardened using ion-beam technology provide excellent durability and scratch resistance.
-
High Light Transmission: Maximizes image brightness and contrast, making it especially beneficial for smaller telescopes ranging from 4 to 11 inches in aperture.
-
Natural-Looking Views: Sharp spectral cutoffs and a moderate 60 nm passband preserve rich star fields and subtle nebular details while significantly improving contrast.
-
Enhanced H-Alpha Transmission: The broad passband includes the highly efficient 656 nm H-alpha wavelength, making the filter useful for astronomical imaging.
Whether observing from light-polluted urban areas or dark-sky locations, the UHC/LPR Filter helps reveal intricate nebular structures while maintaining excellent image brightness and detail.
