The Celestron Advanced VX (AVX) 8" Newtonian Telescope combines generous light-gathering capability with the advanced features of Celestron’s Advanced VX German equatorial mount. Designed as an excellent entry- to mid-level setup, the Advanced VX 8" Newtonian can grow with you as your observing and astrophotography experience develops. The 8-inch Newtonian optical design is an excellent choice for visual observing, delivering substantial aperture while maintaining an accessible setup. Its parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration, helping produce sharper images, particularly toward the edge of the field of view. Compared with the 6-inch Newtonian optical tube, the 8-inch model provides 78% more light-gathering ability, allowing you to capture more detail from celestial targets. The Advanced VX mount is designed to provide strong performance with smaller telescopes while incorporating Celestron's advanced technologies. All-Star Polar Alignment simplifies alignment, while Celestron PWI telescope control software provides advanced control capabilities. Permanently programmable periodic error correction (PPEC) further supports accurate tracking for astrophotography. For experienced imagers, the portable Advanced VX platform makes it convenient to travel to dark-sky locations while enjoying many of the conveniences associated with larger observatory mounts. For those new to astrophotography, the system provides a capable foundation for getting started and continuing to develop your skills over time.

Features

  • 8” (200mm) f/5 optical design provides excellent wide field views
  • Parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration to produce a better image
  • The most compact and portable of Celestron’s German equatorial mounts offers the same rigidity as our larger mounts with minimal flexure and an improved industrial design
  • Holds a maximum instrument capacity of 30 lb
  • Every feature an astroimager wants: PEC, an autoguider port, the ability to image across the meridian, and more
  • Dual saddle plate is compatible with narrow CG-5 dovetails and wider CGE dovetail. Also compatible with Vixen format dovetails longer than 100mm, but not compatible with Losmandy D format plates.
  • Latitude range allows the mount to perform between 7° and 77° latitude
  • Accessories include a 20mm eyepiece and 9x50 finderscope
