The Celestron Advanced VX (AVX) 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope combines a compact optical design with the advanced capabilities of Celestron's Advanced VX German equatorial mount. Designed for both astroimagers and visual observers, this setup offers a highly portable alternative to larger reflector or refractor telescopes while providing the features needed to grow with your astronomy experience. The 6-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube delivers 40% more light-gathering ability than a 5-inch telescope, providing increased capability for observing a wide range of celestial objects. Its compact optical design makes the telescope particularly attractive for users who want substantial aperture without the bulk associated with larger telescope configurations. The Schmidt-Cassegrain design also eliminates chromatic aberration, making the telescope a strong option for those beginning their journey into astrophotography. Combined with the Advanced VX mount, the system provides a capable platform for both visual observation and imaging. The Advanced VX mount incorporates Celestron's advanced technologies, including All-Star Polar Alignment, Celestron PWI telescope control software, and permanently programmable periodic error correction (PPEC). These features provide useful tools for alignment, telescope control, and tracking during astrophotography. For experienced imagers, the portable Advanced VX setup can be taken to dark-sky locations while providing many of the conveniences associated with a larger observatory mount. For beginners, it offers a capable foundation for getting started with astrophotography and continuing to develop your skills over time.

Features

  • 6” (150mm) f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain includes StarBright XLT coatings for better light transmission
  • The most compact and portable of Celestron’s German equatorial mounts offers the same rigidity as our larger mounts with minimal flexure and an improved industrial design
  • Holds a maximum instrument capacity of 30 lb
  • Every feature an astroimager wants: PEC, an autoguider port, the ability to image across the meridian, and more
  • Dual saddle plate is compatible with narrow CG-5 dovetails and wider CGE dovetail. Also compatible with Vixen format dovetails longer than 100mm, but not compatible with Losmandy D format plates.
  • Latitude range allows the mount to perform between 7° and 77° latitude
  • Accessories include a 25mm eyepiece, 1.25” star diagonal and 6x30 finderscope
