The Celestron Advanced VX (AVX) 6" Newtonian Telescope combines a capable 6-inch Newtonian optical system with Celestron’s advanced computerized German equatorial mount technology, creating an excellent entry- to mid-level setup that can grow with you as your astronomy experience develops. The Advanced VX brings many of the features found on Celestron’s more sophisticated German equatorial mounts into a highly accessible platform. The 6-inch Newtonian optical design is particularly well suited to visual observing while providing substantial aperture for its price. Its parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration, helping produce sharper images, particularly toward the edge of the field of view. This makes the telescope a versatile choice for observers looking to explore a wide range of celestial targets. The Advanced VX mount is engineered to deliver reliable performance with smaller telescopes while incorporating Celestron technologies designed to simplify alignment and improve tracking. Features such as All-Star Polar Alignment, Celestron PWI telescope control software, and permanently programmable periodic error correction (PPEC) provide powerful tools for both visual observation and astrophotography. For experienced imagers, the portable Advanced VX mount can be taken to dark-sky locations, providing many of the conveniences typically associated with larger observatory mounts. For newcomers to astrophotography, it provides a capable platform to learn the fundamentals and continue developing your setup as your experience grows.

Features

  • 6” (150mm) f/5 optical design gives excellent wide field views
  • Parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration to produce a better image
  • The most compact and portable of Celestron’s German equatorial mounts offers the same rigidity as our larger mounts with minimal flexure and an improved industrial design
  • Holds a maximum instrument capacity of 30 lb
  • Every feature an astroimager wants: PEC, an autoguider port, the ability to image across the meridian, and more
  • Dual saddle plate is compatible with narrow CG-5 dovetails and wider CGE dovetail. Also compatible with Vixen format dovetails longer than 100mm, but not compatible with Losmandy D format plates.
  • Latitude range allows the mount to perform between 7° and 77° latitude
  • Accessories include a 20mm eyepiece and 6x30 finderscope
